Hope for Internet Poker from Harry Reid
New hope is being given to online poker player by Sen. Harry Reid that legislation to legalise online poker is coming. He told a reporter that the Department of Justice ruling will impel Congress to initiate a bill for regulation on a federal level. The Department of Justice ruling in question was that of 23rd December which reinterpreted the federal Wire Act 0f 1961.

The act was previously thought to make all forms of internet wagers illegal. However, Justice attorneys now say that the restriction only applies to sports betting.“It’ll give us an incentive to get something done” Reid was reported to say. “We cannot have a series of laws around the country related to gaming,” Reid said. “I know a lot about gaming I'm a former chairman of the Nevada (Gaming) Commission and I think it's very important that we have a national law.
